Congratulations! MC Idrija will be your hometown for your volunteer project! Now, before you come here, there is some info that you need to know.

What do you need to come here?
EHIC (European Health Insurance Card). Depending on the country it can take a lot of time so you should ask for it as soon as possible.
Passport. If you want to travel to different countries you may need it, so renew your passport.
Travel tickets. You can come here in different ways: plane, train, buses … Make sure to check all of your options before booking one (you may find a cheaper option).
Arriving to Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Your very first task as a volunteer will be finding your way to Idrija. You will see that it may not be that easy, but don’t worry, we will give you some options on this site so you can start looking up. You should keep in mind the budget you have for traveling and the fact that the closer the date, the higher the prices will be.
The first option is to travel by plane.

You can come to Slovenia from five (5) different airports.
1. Ljubljana Jože Pučnik. The Slovenian Airport, only 26 km away from Ljubljana.
2. Graz Airport (Austria). You have a direct train from Graz to Ljubljana.
3. Zagreb Airport (Croatia). You have train and bus to Ljubljana.
4.Trieste (Italy). You can get a train or a direct bus to Ljubljana. GoOpti is another option.
5. Venice (Italy). The best option is to use GoOpti or go to Trieste by bus and then to Ljubljana.
The greener option is to travel by train or by bus.
If you want to travel by bus, you should check the Flixbus page to see if you have a direct bus from your city to Ljubljana. If you don’t have it from your own city, you can try searching from the biggest nearby city.

You can also try to come by train (which is usually a little bit faster!). Just like with the buses, make sure you can come to Ljubljana from the biggest nearby city you have. Sometimes you will have to transfer to another one, so make sure to be on time (and that you are awake!).
Both options will leave you at the Ljubljana Bus (and Train) Station, where your adventure will continue.
From Ljubljana to Idrija
For the final leg of your (probably) long trip, you still need to get one last final bus. This bus is operated by Nomago and they have their schedules online on their website.
The website is quite easy to use. For checking the schedule, go to “Nomago – vozni red” (it means time schedule), put the destinations and date, and you will be able to see all the buses.
You can buy the tickets from the website (or the app if you download it) with the credit card, or you can buy them directly on the bus but ONLY WITH CASH. A third option is to buy it at the main bus station with credit card or cash. Also, it is important to know that the bus is cheaper on the weekends (you will only pay 1,40€ of the normal 5,70€)

At the bus station, our bus will be located on the darsena 13 most of the times (sometimes it cab be on the 11). Make sure that the bus is going to Idrija before you get in! (you can also ask the driver)
As you see, the bus takes one hour and fifteen minutes to arrive to Idrija. It is important to know that it goes through some quite tight curves, so if you get dizzy easily, make sure you have something to help you.
And lastly, when you arrive to Idrija, you will only
need to get to the MC Idrija. We have a nice video explaining how to get here.
