Elf Around Volume 2 was a project of the European Solidarity Corps that took place from November 27 to December 12, 2025. A total of 18 international volunteers from fourteen different countries came to Idrija. As part of the project, they set up the Perkmandlcov Becirk (open from November 30 to December 20, 2025), decorated the Main Square, and organized the Taste of Diversity market, where three young and promising bands performed (December 6, 2025). They also spent time with vulnerable social groups. Above all, they spread solidarity and goodwill throughout the entire local community.

Attention, Perkmandlc in town! International volunteers of MC Idrija are helping him spread the festive spirit
Do you remember last year’s festive buzz, when Idrija sparkled with lights and the sound of elf laughter echoed through the streets? Yes, that was our Perkmandlc – the mischievous yet kind-hearted elf who lives in the mine beneath Idrija. He has decided not to rest this year either. Once again, he is setting up his becirk in the town center, decorating it in a festive way, with the help of young international volunteers hosted by the Idrija Youth Center.
As part of the Elf Around Vol. 2 project, 18 international volunteers from fourteen different countries are coming to Idrija. The project is carried out within the framework of the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and is co-funded by the European Union.
So Perkmandlc will not be alone! Young international volunteers are coming to help him ensure that Idrija becomes even more beautiful, more solidary, and filled with festive cheer.
The volunteers will assist him in creating and setting up his becirk on the Main Square. But this year, Perkmandlc has decided he will no longer stay hidden in the mine – he is heading out across the entire municipality! Rumors are already spreading around Idrija that he has appeared in various local communities, where locals have drawn and colored him. So watch out! As you walk through the town in December, he might peek at you from around the corner, wink at you… or mischievously snatch your snack.
Perkmandlc will make sure we get to know more than fifteen different cultures and cuisines and will connect our volunteers with local immigrants! Join us for good food and music at the event “Flavours of Diversity.” The musical atmosphere will be provided by three young bands – Skriti gosti, Black Light, and Električni mulci – made up of young musicians aged between 11 and 16.
But the festive story doesn’t end here! Together with the volunteers, Perkmandlc will visit those who find it harder to take part in holiday events and will bring festive cheer directly to them through creative workshops.
With all this – and a bit of mischief along the way – Perkmandlc and his helpers will once again make sure that Idrija shines this year, not only with lights, but also with warmth and solidarity.
The project takes place as part of the Perkmandlc Festival, in cooperation with the Idrija Local Community, the Municipality of Idrija, the Idrija Association of Friends of Youth, and the Idrija Tourism Institute, whose main goal and wish is to connect Idrija through the festive spirit.

V Mladinskem centru Idrija so gostovali do 13. 12. 2025, vmes pa so po Idriji širili praznični duh, solidarnost in dobro voljo.
